Landscape contractor software in 2026

You searched for software to run a landscaping business. This page says plainly which category does that job, what it costs, and where a $59.99 visualiser fits into a stack that Jobber and LMN already own.

Most landscape contractor software costs $348 to $7,776 a year and does quoting, scheduling and invoicing — Jobber and LMN are the category leaders. AI Landscape Design is not one of those. It is the $59.99-a-year visual you show a customer in their own driveway, before the quote goes out.

We make one of the products named here. We have not run hands-on tests of the others — this compares published pricing read from each vendor's own page on August 3, 2026.

This page is written for the person running the business, not the homeowner buying from them. If you need to quote, schedule, invoice and chase payment, the answer is a field service platform — Jobber, LMN, Aspire or Service Autopilot — and this page will point you at one rather than pretend otherwise. AI Landscape Design solves one narrow part of the same day: putting a picture of the finished yard in front of the customer while you are still standing in it. Everything below separates those two purchases.

What landscape contractor software actually covers

A backyard with a curved dry-stone retaining wall holding a raised planting bed, bluestone steps down to a flagstone path, and lavender and hostas planted below
A job like this touches all four software categories — estimate, schedule, drawing, and the picture that sold it.

Four different products get sold under this phrase, and they do not overlap much.

The first is field service management: quoting, scheduling, dispatch, invoicing, payment. Jobber, LMN, Aspire and Service Autopilot live here, and this is what most people mean by landscape contractor software.

The second is estimating and job costing — pricing work off measured quantities and labor rates, then checking afterward whether the crew hit the number. LMN sells this hard; Jobber covers a lighter version of it.

The third is design: CAD packages that produce dimensioned drawings and construction documents. DynaScape and Structure Studios Vip3D sit here.

The fourth is presentation — showing the customer what the finished yard will look like. That is the one AI Landscape Design does, and it is the only category of the four that has to work at the curb rather than at a desk.

If you need a CRM, buy a CRM — this is not one

A large corner lot with a wide striped lawn, mature street trees along the road and a mulched border running beside a grey stone chip strip at the house wall
Recurring maintenance accounts are a scheduling and invoicing problem long before they are a design problem.

AI Landscape Design, published by Skyble Lab, is not a CRM. It does not quote, schedule, dispatch, invoice, take a payment, track crew hours or run a job cost report. If any of those is the reason you typed "landscape contractor software" into a search box, go look at Jobber or LMN instead. They are the two names the industry actually runs on, and neither is trying to do what we do.

Saying that costs us the search. It is still the right answer, because the alternative is a contractor paying $59.99 for a rendering app and discovering in week two that invoices are still going out on a paper pad.

Buy the platform first. The visual tool is a $60 line item you add afterward, once the boring parts of the business are already running.

What the business platforms cost in 2026

A walled courtyard with tall clipped hedges on three sides, a circular white gravel bed around a multi-stem white birch, ringed by clipped boxwood spheres
Software pricing in this category scales with crew size, not with the complexity of the work.

Jobber is the best-known field service platform in this trade — per-user monthly, tiered by crew size, and the default recommendation you will hear from other contractors. We are not printing its prices. Its pricing page sits behind a bot challenge and served us nothing on August 3, 2026, so any number here would be recalled rather than read. Check it yourself before you budget.

LMN's pricing page runs higher because it is sold to companies with crews. Starter is $297 a month billed monthly and includes one office license plus five crew licenses. Professional is $648 a month for three office and fifteen crew licenses, and adds real-time job costing. Both carry a one-time onboarding fee on top of the subscription, and Enterprise starts at a 100-seat minimum and is quote-only.

So the verifiable end of this category runs from $3,564 a year for LMN Starter to $7,776 a year for a mid-sized crew on LMN Professional, both read on August 3, 2026. The solo-operator platforms sit well below that, but you will have to price them yourself.

The design tier is priced for firms with a designer on payroll

A formal rectangular backyard with a bluestone terrace framing a striped lawn panel, low clipped box hedging along both sides and a timber pergola over a seating set
Work at this level is where a CAD seat pays for itself, because the drawing is part of what the client is buying.

DynaScape Design is $1,599 a year, with the Color and Sketch3D add-ons at $600 a year each and bundles reaching $1,999 to $2,199. Structure Studios Vip3D is $197 per user per month, or $167 billed annually, which works out at $2,004 a year for one seat.

Those numbers are not aimed at a two-person operation. They assume a firm with a designer on payroll, billing design as its own line item and spreading the seat across enough jobs to justify it. Below roughly ten design-build jobs a year the math does not close.

What you get for the money is real: dimensioned plans, plant schedules, material takeoffs, branded proposals. What you also get is a learning curve measured in weeks. Contractors who buy a seat and never get past the tutorial are common enough that both vendors sell training alongside the license.

Most of this industry has no employees and no CAD seat

A single timber-edged planting bed with bare soil and a few young perennials, a rusted wheelbarrow and a spade left on the grass, striped lawn running back to a hedge
One truck, one bed at a time. This is the shape of most residential landscaping work in the US.

Roughly 78% of US landscaping businesses are sole proprietors with no employees, according to Census nonemployer statistics. One person, one truck, no office, no designer, no CAD seat.

That single number explains the shape of this software market. A $2,004-a-year design seat and a $648-a-month crew platform are both built for the other 22%. The person doing most of the residential work in this country quotes off a clipboard or a phone, and the only visual the customer ever sees is whatever that contractor can describe out loud.

It also explains where the gap is. There is very little sold between a free notes app and $1,599 a year, and almost nothing at all in that range that produces a picture. AI Landscape Design sits in that gap deliberately: $59.99 a year, no training, no desktop install.

The job is won while you are still standing in the yard

A concrete driveway edge with a black mulch border of ornamental grasses, sedum and clipped boxwood against a stone house wall, wide striped lawn beyond
Twenty feet of driveway edge like this is a five-minute conversation — or a picture the customer keeps.

Three contractors quote the same patio. Two describe it. One pulls out a phone, photographs the yard, and hands over an image of that exact yard with the patio in it before leaving the driveway. That third quote does not need to be the cheapest one.

This is the part of the sale software has largely ignored. Estimating tools make the number accurate. Scheduling tools make the crew show up. Neither does anything about the twenty minutes in which the customer is deciding whether they can picture it at all.

A render is not a construction drawing and should never be presented as one. It is an agreement device — it settles which direction the job is going before anyone measures anything, which is the argument that otherwise happens three weeks later with materials already on site. Show it on the spot and the follow-up call gets a lot shorter.

What AI Landscape Design does for a contractor, and what it does not

A finished corner of a small backyard with a white gravel seating pad edged in steel, a cedar raised planter of ornamental grasses along a timber fence and bluestone paving in the foreground
Renders show planting at mature size. On install day this bed would be half this full.

AI Landscape Design takes a photo of the yard you are standing in and returns the same yard redesigned, in about 10 seconds, across 18 styles. It holds the house, fence line and driveway in place rather than generating a different property. 3 designs are free at full resolution with no watermark; after that it is $59.99 a year or $7.99 a week.

What it does not do, and a contractor should hear this before paying: no dimensions, no quantities, no plant schedule, no cost. It will not tell you how many pavers to order. It handles slope badly, because a single photo carries weak depth information, so a site that falls across its width often comes back looking flat. Planting renders at mature size, three to five seasons ahead of install day — say that out loud to the customer or it becomes a complaint later.

A stack that fits a one-truck operation

A narrow side yard with square concrete stepping stones set into green ground cover, ferns and hostas in a mulched bed along a fence, lawn to the right
Small-ticket work like a side-yard path rarely justifies a CAD seat, but it still has to be sold.

A one-truck operation can cover its whole software need for under $500 a year. Jobber Core at $29 a month billed annually is $348 and handles quotes, scheduling, invoicing and card payments. AI Landscape Design at $59.99 a year handles the visual. Total $408, no desktop software, no training week.

Add crews and the answer changes. Once two or three trucks are out and job costing genuinely matters, LMN Starter at $297 a month is the upgrade most companies make — and the $59.99 visual tool stays exactly where it is, because it competes with none of it.

Add design-build work at real volume and a CAD seat starts to pay. Until then, spend on the platform, spend almost nothing on the picture, and keep the two purchases separate. Our roundup of design software covers that second tier in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

What software do landscaping companies use?

Most use a field service platform: Jobber, LMN, Aspire or Service Autopilot for quoting, scheduling, invoicing and crew time. Design-build firms add a CAD seat such as DynaScape or Structure Studios Vip3D on top. Solo operators often run nothing beyond a phone. Published pricing starts at $29 a month for Jobber Core and $297 a month for LMN Starter.

How much does landscape contractor software cost?

Verifiably between $3,564 and $7,776 a year on LMN, depending on crew size. LMN Professional is $648 a month for three office and fifteen crew licenses. Design CAD is a separate purchase at $1,599 to $2,004 a year per seat. Prices read from vendor pages on August 3, 2026.

Is there an app that shows customers what their yard will look like?

AI Landscape Design does exactly that: photograph the yard, pick one of 18 styles, and get that same yard redesigned in about 10 seconds. The first 3 designs are free at full resolution. It carries no dimensions or quantities, so it sits alongside estimating software rather than replacing it. Published by Skyble Lab, on iPhone and Android.

Do I need CAD software to sell landscaping jobs?

No, unless you are producing construction documents or applying for permits. Most residential work is sold on a verbal description and a price. A photo render closes the visual gap for $59.99 a year, where DynaScape Design starts at $1,599 a year. Buy CAD when a client, an HOA board or an inspector requires a dimensioned drawing, not before.

What to buy, and in what order

Buy the business platform first — Jobber if you are solo, LMN once you have crews. Neither is optional and neither is us. Then add AI Landscape Design as a $59.99 line item so the customer sees the yard before they see the price. It is the wrong tool if you need dimensions, quantities or a permit drawing.

  1. Download AI Landscape Design — free, no card, first 3 designs at full resolution
  2. Photograph the yard from where the customer stands, in flat overcast light rather than hard midday sun
  3. Run two directions on site and let the customer pick one before you write a number down
  4. Take the agreed direction back into Jobber or LMN and quote it properly, with real quantities
